Overview

Membership in The Sheboygan Dog Training Club

Each applicant must complete 2 classes at SDTC before you’re eligible for membership (unless you have earned a title within the past 5 years). You need to fill out an application blank that can be obtained from any instructor, or by email. This needs to be submitted within 60 days of the ending of your second class.

The application for membership must be submitted to the Club Secretary by the 15 th of each month, in order to be read and the potential member voted on at the following Membership Meeting. Monthly meetings are the last Tuesday of each month, starting at 7pm.

Membership Benefits
Members can sign up to use the grounds and buildings when there are no classes or events; you will be provided the sign up link and door codes after you are given an orientation (within a week or so of being voted into membership). Once you’re a member, you have full access to the buildings and grounds (sign up online for time frames), as well as reduced prices for classes. Generally the price is 25% of what the public pays.

Costs
Membership is $60 for a single member, and 25 hours of work are required per year and attendance at at least 4 general meetings. There are also Family and Junior Memberships available. Fees and work requirements are prorated if you join during the year (and not in January). If you are on the Board or do various other things (newsletter editor, secretary, etc.), the work requirements are reduced or waived altogether. There are many volunteer opportunities to get the work hours in, such as working at a trial, cleaning the building, being on a committee, Etc.

Classes
Members have the first choice of classes; members are notified by email of the opening of class sign-ups prior to the general public. The classes run as we have instructors available, as all are volunteers. So the time frame varies throughout the year, though generally they run for 5 weeks, with one or two weeks break in Between.

Classes that we have on a regular basis are Obedience and Agility and sometimes Rally… we do not have classes for Fast Cat or Barn Hunt, though we do hold Fast Cat trials.
